Waddle, Martin - entered service 1777-78 in Shenandoah County, Virginia, where he resided, as substitute for Nicholas Dull in Virginia Regiment; entered service 1780 in different Virginia Regiment & served at Battle of Guilford Courthouse; granted Pension 1832 abt. age 69 in Greene County, Tennessee; there died 12/20/1842; married 3/1791 in Sullivan County, North Carolina (area later Tennessee), to Susan Stoke, who was born 2/5/1772, & granted Pension abt. age 72 in Greene County, Tennessee, 1844, per County Justice of the Peace Rufus K. Waddle (no kinship given); granted Bounty Land Warrant #26855 there in 1855. F-W1008, R2465.
