Martin J. "Jockey" German, 76, of Slatington, died Aug. 22 in his home. He was the husband of the late Joyce E.(Williams) German.
He worked for the former Trojan Powder Co., South Whitehall Township, for more than 35 years before retiring as maintenance supervisor in 1989. Previously, he was a slate splitter for Papay's Slate Quarry, Slatedale, 1947-50.
Born in Slatington, he was a son of the late James H. and Elsie L. (Mack) German.
He was a Christian.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Allen O. Delke American Legion Post 16, Slatington.
He was a member of Grundsau Lodge 18, Emerald.
Survivors: Daughters,
Barbara A. Eckhart of Slatedale, Sandra J. Kistler of Slatington, Brenda I. of Partlow, Va.; stepsons, Harold J. Lloyd Jr. of Northampton, David J. Lloyd of Mathias, W.Va.; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews.
