On the 1860 census, age 7, with father, Samuel and step-mother, Christina (Edgell), Jefferson, Polk Co., Ia.[ P 93, fam 747/682] On the 1870 census, we see Martha in the home of Jacob and Catherine Sherburn, in Jefferson, Polk Co., Ia. Jacob was born in Ohio and may possibly be a brother to Martha's deceased mother, Rosanna.[p 109 fam #105/110] She married William F. "Willie" WOODS before 1876. He was born 30 Aug 1850 in Tenn. William died 10 May 1900, and was buried in New Union Cemetery, Mercer Co., Mo. On the 1900 census for Milgrove Village, Washington Twp., Mercer Co., Mo., we see Martha Woods, head of house, widow, age 47. She reports she a farmer owning a mortgaged farm. Two children still in the home.[ED 122, p.15A, fam #305/305] Martha died 20 Jul 1935 in Mercer Co., Mo., and was buried in New Union Cemetery, Mercer Co., Mo.
