Although Martha Moore is not mentioned in her father's will, she is listed in the 1850 U.S. Census in the same household, indicating she was likely his daughter. In the 1860 U.S. Census, 16-year old Martha was listed as a "Domestic", living with William Philips, his wife Levena, and their newborn daughter Julia A. Phillips. This family lived very close to several of Martha's Moore family relatives.
