James Moore, of Bulls Gap, Hawkins Co., TN
Facts and Events
Disambiguation
NOT to be confused with another James Moore (b. abt. 1805), also of Hawkins County, TN, who clearly had a different family as shown in U.S. Census records. Additional research is needed to determine if they are perhaps related.
About James Moore
This James Moore was apparently married twice; first, prior to abt. 1830 to the mother of his five children [some claim her name was Annie Baldwin without any records in support], who remains unknown until additional research can identify her. James Moore had five children with his first wife, four of which were named in his will [and two codicils] written 10 Feb. 1869 and proven 1 Jan. 1872 in Hawkins County, TN. All five of his children are listed in Census records in 1850-1870 in Hawkins County, TN.
His second marriage on 22 Dec. 1847 was to Eliza Ann "Annie" Beckner [Tennessee Marriage Records, 1780-2002], the daughter of Joseph Beckner and Jane Moore who married 28 Mar. 1799 in Botetourt County, VA. Annie [Beckner] Moore mentioned her father Joseph Beckner in her will written on 10 Feb. 1869, and proven 23 July 1883 in Hawkins County, TN.
This James Moore is sometimes referred to as James "Levi" Moore by some researchers.
