"She was living with her parents in 1860 with her two children. (from Kathy Wooten, 3/16/02 "Sad Death at Bear Creek" On Thursday evening Jan. 26, Mrs. Martha Allison, hapened to get her clothing on fire and was burned in a shocking manner, burning her clothing almost entirely off. She lived about 14 hours. It is supposed that she frainted and fell in the fire. Her son J. P. Allison was near the house at work and hearing some unusual noise ran in and found her frightfully burned. Mrs. Allison was born nov. 16, 1835, in Gibson County, Tenn. She was burie at the Chinquapin Orchard. Mrs Allison ha been a member of the church 45 years and lied a consistent, Christian life. She leaves many riends to mourn her sad fate. She leaves two sons Jeff and Joe to whom the sympathy of the entire community is extended.
