Facts and Events
On 28 Sep, 1814, David P Hamilton enlisted as a private in Dyer's Mounted Gunmen, Tennessee Volunteers, Captain Robert Even's Company, 1st Regiment, Tennessee Vol. Mounted Gunmen. He served until 27 Apr 1815, when he was honorably discharged at Nashville. His discharge, signed by Brigadier General John Coffey States "I certify that David P Hamilton, a private in my brigade of Tennessee Volunteer Mounted Gunmen, has performed a tour of duty of seven months in service of the United States - that his good conduct, subordination and valor, under the most trying hardships, entitles him to the gratitude of his country, and he is hereby honorably discharged by his General. s/John Coffey." Other records indicate that he was involved in service in Pensacola, Florida and at the Battle of New Orleans.
