Martha came to America from England with his parents in 1635 on the ship "Hopewell". Martha was 5 years old at the time. They settled in Lynn, Mass where they remained until about 1638. At this time they moved to New York where John was one of the purchasers of the land that is now Southhampton, Long Island, NY. This land was purchased from the Indians. They remained there until the early 1700s at which time they moved to Piscataway, Middelsex county, New Jersey.
