At this time they moved to New York where John was one of the purchasers of the land that is now Southhampton, Long Island, NY. This land was purchased from the Indians. They remained there until the early 1700s at which time they moved to Piscataway, Middelsex county, New Jersey.

This source unfortunately does not distinguish between John Cooper the father and John Cooper the son, conflating them into one person who married Wilbroe and later Sarah.
