- ↑ Letter: Marjorie writes these two letters. Have no idea who they werewritten to:
"Homeworth, O Jan 17, 1919 Suppose you've got the awful message of my poor Troy boy's death Dec.25. Died of Broncial Pneumonia. Oh if only I had his poor body so itcould be laid away right. -M. Sanor"
"Homeworth, O Jan 21, 1919 Was going to write and tell you that our message came from WashingtonDC. Then Jerome brought this letter. So will write both. That poor boywasn't taken to the hospital at soon enough. They said he was nearlygone then took him. So they could say he was in the hospital. They neednot think I believe they took care of him. I mean before he went to thehospital expect they did all they could but it was too late. It was alluncalled for to send our American boy in a foreign country, only toplease the money men. If I'd had Troy, perhaps he'd be living. I'vepulled him through when it seemed death would come. Looks like now, itwould have been better if he had gone when he was small. He' not had tobe laid in an old catholic country. Couldn't even have a Christianburial. I wish I could hear of old Wilson's death. He made the boys goover there, the heartless wetch. Troy wrote 3 letter since the fightingstopped. I got all but had just got one before that was wrote the 9th ofJuly- the last was dated Nov 30. He said him and Roy were both well. Then I'll be glad to get out of this world where there is such heartlesswretches as we have in office. Oh if the boys would only have listenedto me. I plead with them not to go. They were to weakly and always wasfrom the time we got them. Always had weak lungs. from boys never got mylast letter"
