KRAAN, Marinus "Ries" Passed away peacefully at the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood, ON, on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the age of 90. Ries, beloved husband of the late Marie (nee Spence) (1998) for 35 years. Loving father of Dan (Janice), Jim (Tina), John and David (Jody). Cherished Opa of MacKenzie. Dear brother of Margaret, Arie and predeceased by nine brothers and four sisters. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Ries immigrated to Canada in the late 1940's. He first moved to Collingwood for work then north to work in lumber camps and the Sudbury mines with his brother Bart, Toronto to drive a delivery truck and finally settled back to Collingwood where he purchased an apple farm in 1960. A special thank you to Dr. Richard Cornell and all the doctors and nurses that cared for dad in the emergency department and medical floor over the past several months. Visitation will be at the Chatterson Funeral Home , Collingwood, on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 7 - 9 p.m. followed by a funeral service on Thursday at the Collingwood Christian Reformed Church, #7642 Poplar Sideroad, Collingwood, ON at 1 p.m. Spring interment of ashes at the Glenarm Cemetery, ON. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital.
