It is understood that Johan died at an early age. In the 1900 census from Lade, Strinden is shows that a Rikard Johnson was living with them, he was born in 1869 and was a district appointed doctor. She worked in a general store in Skotfos, 

SkienNorway after the death of her husband until 1905. Marie came to Chicago on October 10, 1905, after she Game to the States (she was living with her sister in Chicago, two or three other sisters stayed in Norway and were spinsters). While in

ChicagoMarie worked in a dress making establishment. By this means she earned a living and sent her daughters to school. Marie answered an ad in a Chicago newspaper, a well to do farmer was looking for someone to take care of his family. She went to Stanley in 1911 to take care of Mr. Ole Haugens children. Ole Haugen was looking for a women to marry, in name only, to take care of his children, there were many, possibly five from the first marriage and two or three from the second marrage.
