Marian was born in Meadville, PA, daughter of the late William Harrison Gable and Lucia Madgeline Bazer. A graduate of Meadville High School, she attended Allegheny college. A homemaker, she enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Rocky Grove.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by first husband, Clarence William Smith; her second husband, Theodore Fox; a son, Clyde W. Smith; five sisters, and a brother.

Surviving are nine children, Ellwood M. Smith of Wayne, PA; Keith A Smith and wife, Charlotte, of Franklin; Jerome Smith of Broomall; Corliss A. Smith of Port Orange, FL; Donna L. Snyder of Polk; Colleen J. Ahrens of Oil City; Patricia R. Lindberg and her husband, Richard of Sandusky, OH; Carol M. Campbell and husband, Charles of Berea, OH; and Lois L. Kline and husband, Arthur of Franklin; 32 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
