Mrs. Marian Howard, consort of Mr. S. F. Howard, and daughter of Daniel and Phylura Crandall, was born in Utica, Dane Co., Wis., Jan. 3, 1855, and died Jan. 4, 1883, aged 28 years and 1 day. The subject of this notice embraced Christ at the age of fourteen years, and united with the Seventh-day Baptist Church of the above name place, where she remained a member until 1880, when her name was erased from the church records, having previously removed to Parker, Turner Co., Dakota Territory, where there were no Sabbath-keepers. After struggling for a time alone like many others, she yielded her convictions of right to convenience, and turned from the "holy commandment." Subsequently she removed with her husband to Coon Rapid, Carroll Co., Iowa, where she died, leaving a devoted husband and three small children, and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. V. H.
