In Utica, Wis., Dec. 17th, 1874, of typhoid fever, accompanied with hemorrhage of the bowels, Daniel B. Crandall, aged 26 years, 8 months, and 23 days.
Brother Crandall was born in Brookfield, Madison Co., N. Y., March 25th, 1828. When quite young he removed with his parents to Allegany county. He experienced religion in early life and united with the Third Genesee Church.
In 1852, he removed to Utica, Wis., and united with the church of that place, where he remained a faithful and beloved member until removed by death.
He was married in April, 1852, to Philura Coon, daughter of Oliver Coon, of Allegany county, who with three children and a large circle of relatives, remain to mourn his loss, “but not as those without hope.” A mild and sociable disposition endeared him not only to his family and neighbors, but to all who chanced to associate with him. In 1868, he was a member of the State Legislature, since which time he has constantly held some office of trust or honor, always meriting the confidence of his constituents.
The funeral services were held in the Church at Utica, and attended by a large concourse of people. Services conducted by Eld. James Bailey. Text, Phil. 1: 21, “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Geo. W. Burdick
