Bob Walters Cary, NC Brenda -- "Lockridge Clan". You said you were from Margaret Lockridge's line, mother of Robert Miller Black, and have the line back to William, b. 1730. Perhaps part of the huge database your cousin, Janie Black, referred to is the compilation I am assembling of all the descendants of James and William Lockridge, brothers of early Augusta Co., VA. Thus far we have over 6,000 descendants, not including spouses and parents of spouses. Janie contributed to this store of Lockridge information by sending me her descent from Robert Miller Black. She reported only his son, Andrew C. Black. Janie's father. Thus I do not have you in the compilation. I would love to have your descent from Margaret Lockridge and her husband, Andrew Black, if you are willing to share the information. I have only two children for Margaret and Andrew, viz. Elizabeth, who married W.W. Watkins, and Robert Miller Black. Do you know if there are others? You state that you can only go back to William Lockridge, b. 1730. You no doubt know that Margaret was the daughter of Robert Lockridge, who was the son of John Lockridge, who was born in Augusta Co., VA, went to Kentucky after serving in the Rev. War, and then went to Sangamon Co., IL after the death of his wife, Margaret Henderson. Now we come to the dividing of the ways, for I am convinced by much evidence that John was the son of Robert Lockridge I, not the son of William, b. 1730. I hope that you will join us in the Lokrig Family Assoc. And if you do, I suggest you purchase the back issues of The Lock-On, the associations newsletter. I have articles in Volumes XV and XVI, July 1994 and Jan. 1995respectively, in which I explain why I believe John was the son of Robert I, not the son of William.
