www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nymonnws/1918/July Child Is Burned While Playing With Fireworks Phelps, July 6 - Margaret BROSHARD, the five-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred BROSHARD, in West Main Street, was severely burned about the chest and face, yesterday, when her dress caught fire while she was attempting to light a sparkler. The child who was alone at the time of the accident with her clothes ablaze, ran to her grandfather, V. O. BROSHARD, in another part of the house and he succeeded in extinguishing the flames. While doing so he was badly burned about the hands. Although the child is suffering severe pain, her condition is not regarded as critical. Mrs. King was a native of Phelps and graduated from the Phelps Union and Classical School after which she went to the School of Commerce in Rochester and Rochester Business Institute. She had been employed as a secretary in her father's insurance business and as a medical secretary at Clifton Springs Hospital. She worked as a volunteer at the Phelps Memorial Library. Surviving are her husband, George; two sisters, Mrs. Matthew (Jean) Meath of Phelps and Mrs. Paul (Alice) Quigley of Coral Gables, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews References
