According to the latest research published in 2000 by NEHGS her parents and maiden name are still unknown (Smith, Dean Crawford. Ancestry of Eva Belle Kempton 1878-1908 below).

Added Comment: The identification of Margaret as sister to Robert Badcock is based on her husband's will naming "my loving brother Robert Badcock". Henry also names Edward Brazier of Charlestown, the maiden name of whose wife is unknown, as "my brother Brazier" (a transcription may be seen here). Dean Smith's book does not refute this, but merely warns "There are several ways in which these three men might be related in order to consider themselves brothers in the 17th century." It was unable to find an independent confirmation that they were brothers-in-law, but neither did they present any more likely meaning than brother-in-law, nor any reason to think they weren't brothers-in-law, nor any hint that Margaret might belong to a different family. Basically, the research published in 2000 changed absolutely nothing about what is known, they merely emphasized the uncertainty which was always there, and still is. That acknowledged, clearly the men weren't brothers in the natural sense. With one living in Milton, one in Charlestown and one in Sherborn, they probably went to different churches and so church brethren seems unlikely. Finally to specify my brother Brazier in a document without even a given name suggests the sense of brotherhood had to be meaningful to others are well as themselves. And certainly to call Robert Badcock a "loving brother" (not trusty and loving friend as is often seen), and to nominate him as overseer on a will working with executrix Margaret and son Hopestill does seem to suggest brother-in-law is the most likely interpretation. (The first record of Henry Leland in New England is 22 May 1653 when he was admitted to the church of Dorchester, and baptized a son one week later. So it is quite possible, probable even, that he was already married before he arrived in New England. Given the almost complete lack of information on the origins of the Badcock family, the lack of other documented connection of Margaret to the Badcock family is not surprising.) --Jrich 22:55, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

p 453 published by New England Historical and Genealogical Society in 2000 he married say 1652 MARGARET (Unknown) born say 1630, died in Sherborn 21 May 1705; Henry's will called Robert Badcock "my loving brother" but he also called Edward Brazier of Charlestown "my brother Brazier." We can not conclude that his wife was a Badcock. Considerable work was done on this problem by Neil D. Thompson of Salt Lake City. His report and the Smith-Sanborn notes are on deposit in the Smith-Sanborn manuscript collection at NEHGS.
