Per Ria Hendrix, October 2000 Mrs. Gallagher, I have been looking for David Cripps for a long time and havenot found much on him. There were Cripps also named David in ILwho migrated to MO where my David was born according to thecensus of LA. I have him as a single man in 1850 LA and marriedto Margaret in 1860 LA. He must have died before 1866 possiblyin Homer, Claiborne Parish LA. He was born about 1823. Theymarried Jan. 28, 1853 in Claiborne Parish. Margaret was bornOct. 6, 1831 in Atlanta, GA and died Dec. 17, 1909 in Comanche,Comanche County TX. She and David had two daughters: LorindaIzora Cripps b. 1854 d. 1928 Jones Co TX and Geniva CorneliaCripps b. 1857 d. Comanche Co TX. Margaret remarried herhusband's hired hand, Mr. Merritt, sometime around 1866. Storygoes he up and left and went to AR. (His son Tom Merritt, byanother marriage, was the first of three husbands of LorindaIzora). Margaret had two daughters by Mr. Merritt: Cora LenaMerritt b. 1867 d. 1963 Palo Pinto Co TX and Leota Leona Merrittb. 1870 d. 1971 Tarrant Co TX. Margaret married again to MorganElliot Hall in 1880. He died 1892. There was no issue. Margaretremained a widow until her death. She lived just outside thetown of Comanche, TX called Hasse. She was out in the cow lotfeeding the cow when she was gored with a horn. She died a fewweeks later. She is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche. Myhusband's line comes from Lorinda Izora Cripps Merritt RaneyYoungblood. She had a total of 3 boys and 3 girls with threehusbands. Her first child was Hallie Mae Merritt. She marriedJoe Walker of Blackburn, LA and they moved to Sidney, TX, justdown the road from Comanche where my husband grew up. Hallie andJoe had Nobie Dee Walker who married a Hendrix. These were myhusband's grandparents.

Story goes that the Alexanders were so well off that Margaretnever had to lift a finger until she married David Cripps. Ria ><>
