Mahala was apparently Jeremiah's first wife. After her death in 1832, Jeremiah married Mary Lent. This name may have been Stalker originally. I found a Stalker genealogy which lists her, b. abt. 1798 and marrying Jeremiah Boomhower. Her father is shown as Johannes Stalker b. 14 Aug 1757, Claverack, Albany, New York, d. 25 Aug 1849, Stanbridge, Missisquoi, Quebec, Canada, bur. Aug 1849, Stanbridge, Missisquoi, Quebec, Canada. This same genealogy shows her brother, Aaron b. 1790 marrying Margaret Boomhower, Jeremiah's sister. Their sister, Sarah married Joel Spears. Did they meet in Quebec or Claverack? The Stalker's seem to have migrated to the northern VT, southern Quebec area after the birth of son Samuel, after 1790.
