  • "JOSIE W" owned by Captain Matt T. Jackson and Captain N. W. Eanes who purchased it in Mobile, Alabama. The vessel was dismantled in1903. From the book: "Way's Packet Directory", Page 259, Frederick Way, Jr., 1983.
  • "HENRY BURKE" was piloted by Captain Matt T. Jackson in 1905. This vessel was originally named "MARY E. STAPLES," then "ALMA". Under the name "HENRYBURKE," she ran the Mobile-Tombigbee until the trade played out and she was converted to a ferryboat named "CECIL N. BEAN"; from the book: "Way's Packet Directory", Page 211, Frederick Way,Jr., 1983.
  • Matt T. Jackson was the Captain of the River Vessel "Electra" from 1912-1916. The "ELECTRA" a sternwheeler, wooden hull vessel. Launched in Jefferson, Indiana in 1897 by the Howard Yard, the boat was 170 feet long and powered by two 44 by 26 feet boilers. The State rooms were all named for flowers. The "ELECTRA" was operated by the Red River Line, by Captain George L. White, New Orleans-Shreveport. The Red River Line failed and she was taken along with two other vessels to the Cumberland River in 1905, operated there by the Cumberland River Packet Co. In 1907 she was in the St. Louis-Missouri River trade area. She was taken to Mobile in May of 1911 and ran Mobile-Montgomery. She was bought by Captain Owen Burke in May of 1912 and under the pilotage of Captain Matt. T. Jackson she made a trip to Columbus, Mississippi which may have been the last packet vessel to vist there. She was renamed, "SUNNYSOUTH" in 1914 in Moblie, Alabama. She capsized about 25 miles out of Mobile on 20 April 1916 at 6:30 AM while under tow by the "CLAUDE." Captain Matt. T. Jackson was in charge. From the book: "Way's Packet Directory", Pages 144 and 437, Frederick Way, Jr., 1983.
