THE PARIS NEWS, Jan. 11, 2007: "Mabel Mae Jackson, 97, of Paris died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at Honey Grove Nursing Center. Services are to be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Starrett-Rose Funeral Home, with interment following in Evergreen Cemetery. The family receives friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

She was born Dec. 1,1904, in DeQueen, Ark., a daughter of Robert and Cordielia Mae Bass Manning. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She married Calvin Hicks in Blossom on Oct. 11,1932. He preceded her in death on Oct.10, 1983. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by six children, Allen Lawrence Jackson, Herman Wayne Jackson, Minnie Lou Jackson Clayton, June Jackson, Ann Jackson Steelman and Tyrone Wayne Jackson. She is survived by a son, Doug Jackson and wife, Tona, of Loving; four grandchildren, Robert Steelman of Paris, Diane Marrs of Round Rock, and Donna Butler and Mike Butler, both of Oklahoma; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Peek, of Clarksville.
