'Children [of Samuel Nichols], bapt. at Woodbury: Josiah, b. 25 July 1687, bapt. Sept. 1687, d. at Danbury in 1743; adm'n granted to widow Mehitabel, 26 Oct. 1743, and she was chosen as guardian by sons Daniel and Samuel, 22 Jan. 1744/5; m. after 1719, Mabel, widow of John Griswold of New Milford, sister of Rev. Daniel Boardman. She was dau. of Daniel, b. at Wethersfield, 30 May 1689.'

It is likely that the Samuel Nichols who died at Danbury in 1794 was the son of Josiah and Mabel (Boardman) (Griswold) Nichols. See Samuel Nichols. He would have been old enough to choose his own guardian at that time. Similar record(s) for (presumably) older brother Daniel do not appear.
