- ↑ "Mrs. Lydia Johnson died at her home in Melmore, Monday evening, at 9:00.The cause of her death was dropsy, from which she had been a suffererfor a number of years, but for the last year she had failed rapidly.She was 68 years, three months and 24 days of age. She was born inColumbiana county, April 15, 1837. Her maiden name was Lydia Powell.In 1855 she was married to J.A. Johnson. To them were born fivechildren, Mrs. W. R. Betts, of Kansas, Ohio, H. W. Johnson of Crawfordcounty, Mrs. J. W. Seery, of Crawford county, Mrs. L. A. BLUTHART, ofChicago, Ohio, and John Bruce Johnson who died a number of years ago.For the past five years she has resided in Melmore, where she washighly esteemed by all who knew her. The funeral will be held Thursdayafternoon at 2:00, at the Kansas M. E. church."
