LYDIA (AKA = LETA) likely met Jacob Lawer (Lower) through her sisters, who had married the Karns brothers (brothers of Magdalena Lower, mother of Jacob Lawer). With the death of Lydia's father, Christian, in 1867, it is likely that she, along with her mother Mary, and perhaps her married sister Abaline Karns; migrated to Wabash County, where she was enumerated as a "domestic" in 1870 in the household of David and Abaline.

It is likely that LYDIA died from the after effects of giving birth. Her son had been born only the month before.
