WILLIAM was enumerated in the 1880 Federal Census in the household of his grandparents. One can only speculate as to the family dynamic which was responsible for this? Perhaps his father was away looking for work?

The Pershing book says that WILLIAM left Urbana in circa 1890, "and has not been heard from". Searches in documents have not disclosed what happened to him. Another of those people who disappear from history. In this case, why?

    The Pershing book gives his name as: WILLIAM C. LOWER. As does Rob MacPherson.
