Registered to vote in 1874 and 1875 in Colusa County, California. He owned land in Colorado before moving to Douglas County, Oregon, where he bought a flour mill and large acreage in 1886. He disappeared from Douglas County after Aug. 8, 1889, when he killed John S. Catching. The land he left behind resulted in multiple lawsuits. See Puckett v. Puckett, 28 Or. 65 (1891), [1].
