  2. Sept 1776 Sergt. of Capt. Gorton's co., Col. Christopher Lippitt's regiment. Joined Washington at Harlem Heights; battle of White Plains, Trenton, Princeton and at Morristown. Said to have taken part in Saratoga campaign. Sergt. in co's of Capt. David Husted and Capt. Samuel Shaw of 6th Albany Regt. (4th Rensselaerwyck Battalion) commanded by Lt.Col. Henry K. Van Rensselaer.
