From another researcher: "I have a Joseph Brayton Jr. born circa 1841 in Hemmingford, Quebec and died in Mound City, Illinois on 08 Nov 1861. He was serving the Army of the Potomac at the time of his death. His mother, Clarissa Hubbard Brayton applied for a civil war pension on April 6, 1867, based on his service. This family lived in Chateaugay until the death of Joseph Brayton Sr. when several of them, Clarissa included, moved to Illinois and Iowa. Lucy Brayton Hill and Rhoda Brayton Washburn are two exceptions of which I am certain. One child from this union, Anna Marie Brayton married a man named Charles Pratt and died in Fresno, California on 25 Jul 1931."
