    Lucien Augustus Voorhees was baptized in Nov. 1843 at Dutch Reformed Church, Readington, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. He was the son of Courtland Voorhees and Elizabeth Witham Lundy. Lucien Augustus Voorhees began military service on 26. Apr. 1861. He enlisted in Co. K, 2nd New Jersey Infantry Regiment on 1. May. 1861. He ended military service on 31. Jul. 1861 at Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey; Co. K, 2nd New Jersey Infantry Regiment. He began military service on 29. Jul. 1862; elisted as a sergeant. He Co. A, 15th New Jersey Infantry Regiment on 25. Aug. 1862. He died on 8. May. 1864 at Spotsylvania Court House, Spotsylvnia County, Virginia, at age 20; killed at the battle of the Wilderness.
