Facts and Events
When Loyd was about 16 years old, he ran away from home. He ended up in Kentucky and changed his name to Billy Martin. He also changed his birth year to make himself one year older than what he was. He told his family that he was an orphan. In the summer of 1973, he told his wife that he wanted to call his brothers and at that time told his family that he ran away from home because his father was an alcoholic. His dad would take Loyd's money to buy alcohol. Ironically, Loyd a.k.a. Billy eventually became an alcoholic too. Billy worked at Fort Knox until someone who was stationed there knew the Liebert family and asked him if he was Loyd Liebert. Since at that time he still didn't want to be found, he quit his job at Fort Knox and began working at a Sinclair gas station.
