[Sordelet Family .FTW] CENSUS 1850Found, along with Jacques (Jacob) in the 1850 US Census, Erie County, Tonawanda, NY. They were working as farm laborers on the John Simpson Farm. This was a large farm. Besides John and Frances Simpson and their 4 young children, a young married couple lived on the farm, plus three other farm laborers. After Louis and Pauline were wed, they probably lived in the Louisville, Ohio area until they moved to Allen County, IN 1870Louis was age 53, a farmer with real estate valued at $800 and personal estate of $148. He could read and write and was married to Polline, age 32, born in New York. She also could read and write. Their children were Amilie, age 10, Clara, age 31/2, Maline, age 8, and Mary, age 5. The birthdates for Clara and Mary were switched. 1880Louis Sordelet was left off of this census, but his wife and family were reported. She stated that she was married and he didn't die until 1855. Pauline was age42, born in France (she was born in New York). Her father was born in Switzerland, her mother in France. She listed her children as: William, Mary, Malanda, Emil, Eliza and Clara. 1880 Agricultural Louis did appear on the Agricultural census of 1880. He owned 25 acres of imporved land, 9 acres of meadow and 30 acres of woodland. Farm land and buildings valued at $2000, farm machinery $165 and livestock at $255. Value of all farm produce is $312. 5 acres of mown grassland, 3 not mown and 8 of hay. 2 horses, 2 milch cows, 1 other, 2 calves, 8 swine and 12 barnyard chickens. 100 lbs. of butter made last year, 55 eggs. On 5 acres of Indian corn, produced 170 bushels. 1 acre of oats, 8 bushel. 4 acres of rye, 25 bushel. 14 acres of wheat, 200 bushels. 5 acres of flax, 40 bushel of seed. 1 acre of sorghum produced 15 gal. of molasses.
William J. Vesey, Administrator Decedent died in 1885 intestate. Claims against the estate were: $328.64 Real estate is located: East half of the south west quarter of section 11, township 30, north, range fourteen east. Probable value is $1200 and real estate should be sold to pay indebtedness. Heirs of said decedent are:Pauline Sordelet, his widow; Amelia Chevillot, Malina Banney, Mary Sordelet, Louisa Lantz, Emil Sordelet, Clara Weaver, Lizzie Sordelet, William Sordelet and Nora Sordelet, his children. Amelia Chevillot has purchased of louisa Lantz her interest in said real estate. One third of real estate interest is setoff to said widow, the remaining two thirds to be sold. Real Estate was sold to Alfonce Lamont for $1362 on 30 April 1887 COUNTY DIRECTORY Allen County, Indiana Gazetteer of 1867, Louis Sordelet was listed as a farmer with mailing address as the post Office at new haven, IN. In 1869-70, he was a farmer and land owner living on Irish Ridge Road, 12 miles from Fort Wayne. Found, along with Jacques (Jacob) in the 1850 US Census, Erie County, Tonawanda, NY.
