LouNette Sommers, 83, of Canadensis, died Wednesday morning, September 28, upon arrival at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg after being stricken at home. She was the wife of Richard A. Sommers with whom she shared 30 years of marriage on Monday, September 26th.
Born on November 16, 1927 in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Mary (Shaffer) Vervalin and lived in Monroe County for most of her life.
She studied piano at the St. Louis Conservatory of Music. Her deep passion for piano and organ music led her to teach piano lessons and play the organ at church.
LouNette was a member of the Canadensis United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was a substitute organist. She was a loving mother and grandmother; wrote beautiful poetry and loved animals.
She and her husband owned and operated Colony Village and the Village Kitchen from 1976 to 1985.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two children, Marsha (Wile) McAdams of Reeders and James R. Siglin of Mountainhome; five grandchildren, Deborah Bochte of Orlando, FL, Carl Siglin of Philadelphia, Kerby Siglin of Smyrna, GA, Jason Wile of Reeders and Megan Dunlap of Cresco; ten great grandchildren and a sister, Marcia Krause of Berwick.
There will be a visitation for family and friends from 10:00 to 11:30AM Saturday, October 1, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg. The memorial service will begin at 11:30AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. George Alt officiating.
