  7. Brigadier General Lou G. Van Wagoner, U.S. Army, retired,
    Born in Oxford, February 14, 1905, he enlisted as a Buck Private in the Michigan National Guard in 1940, was commissioned as a Major in the Regular Army in 1947, and was promoted through the ranks to Brigadier General in 1955. During his Army career, Van Wagoner served as a field artillery officer in World War II with the 182nd field artillery and on the staffs of Generals Lucius Clay, Lyman Lemnitzer, Carter B. Magruder, Willie Palmer and Maxwell Taylor in Europe, the Far East and the Pentagon. His awards included the Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, the French Croix de Guerre, and the Republic of Korea Ullchi Medal with Gold Star. After his retirement in 1960, Van Wagoner became Vice President of the Tufty News Bureau. He was a past president of the D.C. Chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army and was a member of the National Press Club, the Army and Navy club, and the White House Press Correspondents' Association.
    He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Russell Manning) Van Wagoner of the home, 2525 10th Street, Arlington, Virginia; two sons, George A. Van Wagoner of Livonia, and John M. Van Wagoner of Plymouth, a stepson, Cdr. William C.. Query of Marietta, Georgia; and eleven grandchildren. He was a brother of Ray Van Wagoner of lake Orion and the late Lee Van Wagoner of Oxford. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday, November 26 at the United Methodist Church, Lake Orion. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Carl Vinson Hall, 6251 Old Dominion Drive, McLean, Virginia 22101.
