NOTES: Written by Patricia Joan Ayres Brownell February 17, 1999. This information comes from Bibles, copies of Lodge records and his obituary. In regards to the parents and siblings of Lory Ford Adams, I have received the following information from Anna Forell of Post Falls, Idaho. She received this information from a cousin, Bessie Watkins of Cleveland, Ohio. Bessie states that she is the daughter of Robert Barber Adams, who is the son of Cyrus Augustus Adams who is the son of Isaac and Dorcas Adams. According to the family Bible in the possession of Bessie, Lory Ford's parents and brothers are recorded. The other source of information comes from Anna's Aunt Ruth Adams Gray of Georgia. She is the daughter of Arzie Perry Adams who is the son of Seaburg Ford Adams who is the son of Lory Ford Adams who is the son of Isaac and Dorcas Adams. According to the Adams Family Bible in the possession of Ruth, Lory Ford's parents and brothers are recorded.This is what the both Bibles have recorded.Parents: Isaac Adams was born in 1788 died in 1873. His wife Dorcas Adams was born in 1768 and died sometime between 1840-1850.Isaac and Dorcas' children are:Eli Purchas Adams born 1814 died 1899.Lory Ford Adams born 1817 died 1888.Cyrus Augustus Adams born 1820 died 1901.Isaac Adams born 1825.On May 28, 1860 Lory took his First Degree of Masonry, which is Entered Apprentice, on August 27, 1860 he took his Second Degree, or Fellow Craft, and on September 24, 1860 he took his Third Degree, or became a Master Mason of American Union Lodge No. 1 - F. & A.M. of Marietta, Ohio. He was an active member and held many offices. Then he moved to Rome, Ohio, he became Master of Rome Lodge # 535. He was a member of the Rome Lodge since it organization.He was also a member of the Patrons of Husbandry of the Grange of Blue Creek.Lory served as Justice of the Peace for Greene Township, Adams County, Ohio from April 6, 1878 until 1881.Lory was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church since he was a youth.Lory passed away at his farm on Mineral Springs Pike, two miles from Rome, Adams County, Ohio. He is buried in the Sandy Springs Cemetery in Greene Township, Adams County, Ohio. [patbrownell431.FTW] |
