Loras J. Ryan

BERNARD, Iowa -- Loras J. Ryan, 65, of Bernard, died Saturday afternoon, Feb. 6, 1993, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 am Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen, rural Bernard, with burial in the church cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Cascade Post 258. Friends may call from 2 to 9 pm today at the Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a scripture wake service at 7 pm.

Mr. Ryan worked at the former Eska Co., Dubuque, prior to his retirement in 1988.

He was born on Jan. 24, 1928, in Otter Creek, son of Thomas and Loretta (Anglin) Ryan. He married Margaret McDonald [sic] on Oct. 3, 1953, in Garryowen; she survives.

He received his education in the Otter Creek schools. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen, its council of men and women and the American Legion Post 258 of Cascade.

Surviving are two daughters, Carla Menge of Cedar Rapids, and Diane Cobb of Eaton, Ohio; two sons, Tom and Wayne, both of Bernard; six grandchildren; and three sisters, Donna Johnson of Dubuque, Mardell Mayberry of Clinton, and Anita Parris of Dubuque.

A Loras J. Ryan Memorial Fund has been established.
