LOLA ADKINS, 95, of Midkiff, W.Va., passed away Monday, December 29, 2003, at St. Marys Medical Center following a short illness. She was born March 29, 1908, in Allen, W.Va., a daughter of the late Frank and Lilly Cummings Smith. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters; a son Alvis Adkins and a daughter Dorothy Stratton; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Ernest Adkins; five children, Ernestine McComas of West Hamlin, W.Va., Frances Miller, Dale Adkins and Betty Roy of Hamlin, W.Va., and Jennifer Roquemore of Dresden, Ohio; 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Carlos Smith of Lewiston, Idaho and one sister, Mary Fizer of Hurricane, W.Va. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 1, 2004, at Handley Funeral Home, Hamlin, W.Va., with Terry Sponaugle officiating. Burial will follow at Lovejoy Cemetery, Palermo, W.Va. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
