JEANNE ELSTON
Jeanne Elston, 89, passed away quietly on December 28, 2004.
She is remembered fondly by her family and friends.
Most recently, Jeanne had been living in the Olympic Care and Rehabilitation Center in Sequim, Washington. Prior to that, she lived at the Sherwood Assisted Living facility and the Fifth Avenue Retirement Center.
In the past year, Jeanne had a deteriorating physical condition but she maintained her sense of humor and enjoyed seeing family members and discussing details of the past and the people that made her life special.
Just several weeks before she passed away, she was able to enjoy an afternoon and dinner at the family"s house in Sequim.
Jeanne was born Lois Jeanne Reese in Seattle and grew up in the University District and Bellevue.
She attended Washington State University in Pullman and formed many lasting friendships as a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.
She married Judson (Jack) P. Elston in 1939 and relocated to the Grand Coulee Dam area, and later to Fresno, California, where their first son, Robert, was born.
After Jack returned from five years in Europe during World War II, he took a position with the Federal Bureau of Reclamation, and the family moved to the Denver area, where Jeanne's second son, Ralph, was born.
Later, the family moved to upstate New York, where Jack had accepted an engineering position on the St. Lawrence Seaway.
In 1961, Jeanne and Jack relocated to San Mateo, California, where Jack retired. Jeanne and Jack traveled and enjoyed golf.
Jack passed away in 1987, and Jeanne moved to King City, Oregon, where, next to her family, golf became her greatest source of enjoyment.
Regardless of where she was, Jeanne was always remembered as an upbeat, optimistic and kind-spirited person.
