The birth record in the family Bible is published in Salem VRs, but is presumed to carry no information about actual birth location, or else it was not preserved. The History of Richmond says the father John came from Salem to Richmond about 1778. A deed in Cheshire County Vol. 19, p. 419 dated 9 Oct 1778 which is 3 months after the birth of Lois, shows Henry Ingalls selling to "John Pickering of Richmond". The birth of Lois is right on the cusp and the nature of our evidence is that it is not precise enough to tell if the birthplace of Lois is Salem or Richmond.
