- ↑ Lillie Esther Ueckert, age 87, of Wibaux, Montana, formerly of Beach, North Dakota, died at the Wibaux County Nursing Home in Wibaux on Tuesday, March 8, 2005.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday March 12, 2005 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Beach with Rev. Scott Hojnakci officiating. Interment will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery in Beach. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Beach is entrusted with arrangements. Lillie was born on June 15, 1917 on the family farm in Wibaux County, Montana the daughter of Gustav A. and Albertina W. (Stolp) Wojahn. Lillie was raised on the family farm in Wibaux County and attended Jordan Country School for the first five years and graduated from Wibaux County High School with the class of 1936. Lillie lived at home and helped on the family farm for several years. Lillie was married to Carl Ueckert at the family home in Wibaux County on December 18, 1941. They had been married for ten months when Carl was inducted into the U.S. Army. After Carl was inducted she moved to Vancouver, Washington where she worked in the Kaiser Shipyards. She worked as a burner for one year. Lillie then moved back to Beach where she worked at Miller's Grocery Store for three years and Carl was discharged from the military. After Carl's discharge they lived in Beach for a time and then moved out to Carl's family farm where they lived until 1993 when they moved into the Golden Valley Manor in Beach. Lillie lived in the manor until moving to the nursing home in 1996. Lillie was very active in her church where she was a member of the church choir, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, taught Sunday School for many years and led the arts and crafts for Vacation Bible School for many years. Lillie was a avid painter, member of the Community Chorus and bowled for many years. Lillie loved kids and enjoyed playing with them. She loved animals, especially raising chickens, cats and horses. She had a green thumb and loved to garden. She will be missed by her family and friends. Lillie was preceded in death by two sisters, Hattie Boehlke and Ann Ponke; four brothers, Hank Wojahn, Otto Wojahn, Adolph Wojahn and Elmer Wojahn. Lillie is survived by her husband, Carl of Beach; her son, Warren Ueckert and his wife Catherine of Flagstaff, Arizona; her daughter, Rita Gilfillan and her husband Norman of Hot Springs, South Dakota; her son, Ronald Ueckert of South Fork, Colorado and her daughter, Gayle Sprenger and her husband Steve of Fargo, North Dakota; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two sisters, Ida Braden and her husband Floyd of Beach, North Dakota and Marie Secora of Bozeman, Montana; one brother, Ernie Wojahn of Wibaux, Montana; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Wojahn of Dickinson, North Dakota and Rose Wojahn of Tigard, Oregon
