George BUCHANAN was b. 1728 and d. 20jul1762 (Burke's landed gentry, 1952) aged 34 (Provosts of Galsgow). George Buchanan of Mount Vernon married Lilias DUNLOP in 1750. Lilias was b. 1729 (A. Duncan). Geo Buchanan married Lillias DUNLOP 23sep1750 at Glasgow (IGI). Lilias was daughter of James Dunlop of Garnkirk and Henrietta Maxwell and niece of Provost Colin Dunlop (Old Glasgow Exhibition, Old country houses of the old Glasgow gentry). Lilias was daughter of James Dunlop of Garnkirk but not sister of Provost Colin Dunlop (b. 1706) as claimed by "Minute book of the Board of Green Cloth" (1891), and "Curiosities of Glasgow citizenship".
