Daughter of James W & Maud Schwarberg
Lillian Marie Dawson, 89, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1962 died on Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Lillian Dawson is survived by her two children Dr. Graydon Dawson (and his spouse Bren Dawson of Olathe, KS and their children Shea, Drew and Brit of Olathe, KS) and Ed Dawson and his son, Brian Dean Dawson of Albuquerque. Mrs. Dawson was preceded in death by her husband Earl Dean Dawson in 1996. It is not a simple coincidence that Mrs. Dawson passed away on the same day as her beloved husband of 57 years. During World War II, Mrs. Dawson worked at a McDonald Douglas defense plant in Oklahoma City and later working as an accountant/bookkeeper so that her boys could go to college. Other than that, Mom was always there for her children as a working stay-at-home mom. Mrs. Dawson was a member of the Heights Church of the Nazarene for 46 years. Mrs. Dawson accepted the Lord as her personal savior at the age of 15 and has been a member of the Nazarene churches in Oklahoma City, Tucson, Arizona, and Denver, Colorado. In her own words, "Church was always the main part of our family's life." She loved singing in the choir, serving in the missionary society, Christian Women's Club, and decorating the church for Christmas. She always said that she was doing it all for the Lord. Mrs. Dawson had the gift of hospitality as she loved planning and holding church meetings, dinners and parties. And, she frequently set the standard of quality for doing that. During her life, Mrs. Dawson made numerous sacrifices for her two sons to see that they had what they needed to flourish as they grew up. It was her deep love for the Lord and her relationship with Jesus that was at the heart of her motivation to give to and serve others. Her deepest desire was that her boys raise their families in such a way that the family circle in Heaven would be unbroken. Regardless of how much she will be missed by her children, grandchildren, larger family and friends, we rejoice that she is today with her husband, Earl Dean and singing in the Heaven's great choir. She's also probably giving God some advice on how He could "spruce things up" around Heaven. Friends may visit on Sunday afternoon and Monday until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside Services will be held Monday, July 21, 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Angel Tree Ministry at Bethany Nazarene Church, 6789 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK 73008. Officer Tributes at Mem.com Hahn-Cook Street & Draper.
