Lillian Crumrine Nunheimer, 94, of the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 21, 2015.
Lillian was born in Paterson Heights, PA, to Mary and Peter Crumrine. She attended Geneva College. Lillian was a long time member of the Basking Ridge Garden Club and was active in the PTA, Girls Scouts and the League of Women Voters. She also surprised her children by learning to ski at the age of 50 and together with her husband Tom volunteering to chaperone the Ridge High Ski Club. Lillian was a faithful member of the Community of Christ.
She enjoyed entertaining her family with stories of her experience as a volunteer air raid warden during WWII while working at a local aircraft company, where she met her husband-to-be Thomas Nunheimer. Lillian, Tom and their family traveled several times across the country camping in the national parks. She enjoyed telling friends about the people she met and her recollections of seeing the diverse beauty of God's earth.
Lillian was preceded death by her husband of 41 years Thomas D. Nunheimer and two sisters, Keturah E. Bath and Helen Tenos. She is survived by her children: Lillian Kovac and her husband Edward, Thomas P. Nunheimer and his wife Karen A Nunheimer, Karen S Nunheimer; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; her sister Evelyn Crumrine; her niece Turrie Bath.
The funeral service was held Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Somerset Hills Memorial Park.
