Occupation[3] Work was the primary activity that defined Lewis's life. Grandpa Carl Masters remembers that he did fish occasionally. He was a disciplinarian, but always fair. The Masters Stove Repair and Cartage business was not a full-time affair but was in operation throughout the 1940s. Grandpa worked in the shop cleaning and repairing stoves ( usually about 400 per summer) when he wasn't chasing the girls or ponies. Lewis also hauled crates from the trainyard for Lane's Drug Stores for extra money.
