Levi served as a private in Captain Thomas Figures Company of the Alabama Territory Militia in the Seminole Indian War thru 1818. Levi was disowned for taking up arms and for embracing the Baptist faith. He helped establish the Catawaba Spring Baptist Church, located 6 miles south of Brewton, Escambia City, Alabama. Levi left Alabama for Texas after 1836. Notes from Joyce Fell. (Research):Levi and Catharine had 13 children. Member of the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting of the Quaker Church. They moved to South Carolina, then to Jefferson county, Georgia by 1802, toConecuh Alabama in 1818. History records show Levi jackson left Alabama for Texas, probably on 1836, served in the Indian War (should be the Texas War of Independence) When Levi died he possessed a certificate for 1/3 league of land (1480 acres) |
