Levi was prominent in the affairs of state and county. In 1810, he was a Justice of the Peace, and a member of the county court of Berkeley County, Virginia. In 1822, 1830, and 1831, he was a member of the House of Delegates of Virginia. In 1840, he was the sheriff of Berkeley County, Virginia. He was buried beside his father William, in the graveyard of the old Mill Creek Protestant Episcopal Church, about a mile down Mill Creek from his home. This church later became known as Christ's Protestant Episcopal Church, bunker Hill, West Virginia.
