Letha was the English and Latin teacher at Elmhurst High School in Fort Wayne for 35 years.

Dorothea said about her sister, "My sister Letha Falls always wanted to teach school. My mother said Letha used to line up her dolls and pretend to teach them. While she was going to Central High School, she worked in the school library for 25 cents an hour. She went to Normal School in Muncie after graduating from High School in 1932 and taught in the last one-room bick school in Wayne Township on Lower Huntington Road, now a private residence. The next year she went to Indiana University for a year and taught school for two years at Anthony Wayne Consolidated School at Covington Road and Old U.S. 24. Then she went back to Indiana University and graduated. She taught high school at Leo and Woodburn in Indiana in Latin and English. Then she started teaching at Elmhurst High School where she directed Senior Plays, supervised the school annual year book and taught Latin and English. She retired at age 62 in 1958."

At her death, Letha left $73,000 to the Walter E. Helmke Library at Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne for acquisitions.
