LEROY E. SMITH      The Republic, April 14, 1983
   Leroy E. Smith, 72, of Glencoe RD 1, died April 7, 1983, at Meyersdale Community Hospital. He was born May 11, 1910, in Northampton Township, son of Harvey andElizabeth (Saylor) Smith.  He was preceded in death by parents and four brothers.  He is survived by his wife, the former Evelyn Emerick; and these children: Mrs. Peter (B. Jean) Kelly, Somerset; Mrs. Rodger (Joyce) Deeter, Glencoe RD 1; and Larry, married to the former Joyce Shumaker, Berlin RD 4. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.  He was the brother  of Irving Smith, Glencoe RD 1, and Mrs. Howard (Alverda) Keefer of  Salisbury.  He was a retired PennDOT foreman and was Northampton Township tax collector.  He was a member of Mt. Olivet Methodist Church and Army veteran of World War II, and member of Robert Walker Post No. 7295 VFW, Berlin, and the Berlin Sportsmen's Club.  Friends were received at the Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home, Berlin, where services were held with the Rev. Samuel Weible and Rev. Wayne Rickard officiating.  Interment, Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to Mt. Olivet Church Building Fund in his memory would be appreciated.
