Utica Daily Press, 2 Nov 1976: CLAYTON FIRE CLAIMS 4 LIVES Clayton NY-- Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Garnsey and two of their children were killed Monday when fire destroyed their one-story home in this rural Jefferson County community... Jefferson County sheriff's deputies identified the victims as Garnsey, 42, his wife Patricia, 38, Leonard Michael, 14, and Carrie Sue, 12. Their three other children had been staying with relatives. Mrs. Garnsey also had a daughter, Denise, 19, by a previous marriage. Firemen removed a gas stove from the kitchen for inspection, They said the stove may have been the source of the fire. Flames were first spotted coming from the kitchen. The wood-frame house also had a wood-burning stove.
