Our beloved father, brother, and Opa, Leo Van Zyverden, 91 years old, was reunited with his sweet wife, Tina and returned to his heavenly home on August 6, 2008 at the Garden Terrace Care Center in East Millcreek, Utah. He was born in Leiden, Holland, educated in England and later served in the Dutch military during World War II, translating for the American troops. As he was exporting tulips for his father's company, Van Zyverden, Inc. he was drawn to the shores of the red, white, and blue. He later brought his beloved wife, Tina and their three children, Helena, Sjors, and Sytske to America the beautiful to settle in the shadow of the temple. Soon thereafter they had two more daughters joining their family, Nora and Katie. He's made it an adventure ever since. Teaching his children to water ski and still slaloming in his sixties, riding horses, enjoying his several ranches, a true cowboy at heart. Leo was a visionary man, developing land through mountains and valleys. His 31 grandchildren still look at trophies he received from the Utah Home Shows. He is so loved and cherished for the way he made each individual feel valued and important. He will truly be missed by all of us. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. The Viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. prior to the services at the Brighton 2nd Ward Chapel, 2561 East Bengal Boulevard (7740 South).
